Apostle Michael Olowokere has raised an alarm that bandits are planning to attack Ondo State this week.
Olowokere, known for his accurate warnings about terrorist activities, urged residents and security agencies to remain vigilant, advising the public to avoid large gatherings.
In a video posted on his Facebook page on Monday, Apostle Olowokere detailed the potential threat, indicating that the attacks could target communities such as Akoko, Owo, or Akure.
He specifically cautioned churches to refrain from holding large gatherings, stating that the terrorist groups have devised plans to strike between now and Friday, with security posts, churches, and crowded events being their primary targets.
However, the Police Command in Ondo State dismissed the cleric’s claims.
The command, in a statement by its spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, cautioned against spreading unverified security alerts that could cause unnecessary fear and public unrest.
“The claims contained in the video are, at present, unverified and without any confirmed intelligence backing,” it stated.
The command urged residents to avoid circulating alarmist information that could heighten tension in the state.
“The public is strongly advised to refrain from sharing or acting on unverified security information capable of causing fear, panic, or unnecessary tension within the state,” it added.
