Edo: 42 died in road accidents in four months – FRSC
No fewer than 42 people have lost their lives in road accidents between January and April this year in Edo State.
The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Paul Okpe, disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City.
Okpe said during the period, 57 accidents were recorded across the state, with 22 persons killed in January, four in February, 11 in July and five in April.
He explained that 537 passengers were involved in the accidents, with 42 dead and 206 injured, while others escaped unhurt.
Okpe attributed the crashes to speeding, brake failure, route violations, dangerous driving, and the use of cell phones while driving, among other causes.
He advised motorists to drive with care and imbibe a safety culture on the road to stay alive.
