Gunshots as suspected Yoruba Nation agitators invade Oyo Secretariat
Some men suspected to be Yoruba Nation Agitators in the early hours of Saturday invaded the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi in Ibadan, the state capital.
The armed men occupied strategic locations in the Secretariat, while some were said to have manned the entrance to the Governor’s office gate, others were seen at the entrance to the House of Assembly Gate with some others at the main entrance.
The situation created panic in the area as police and Amotekun operatives stormed the three entrances of the Secretariat in numerous patrol vans.
The situation, it was gathered, almost turned chaotic as the security operatives fired tear gas to disperse the invaders.
The arrival of military personnel from the 2nd Division of the Army was said to have changed the situation as some of the agitators at the entrance gates taking to their heels.
The stern-looking officers were said to have chased the masked agitators away.
Shop owners and residents around Bodija, Ikolaba, enroute Awolowo quickly locked up their shops and doors.
It could not be confirmed if any arrest has been made as security operatives tried to restore normalcy to the area.
