House of Assembly Speaker resigns over ‘impeachment threat’
The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has resigned over alleged moves by members of the assembly to impeach him.
Agbebaku’s media aide, Ivy Ebojele, confirmed his resignation in a Facebook post on Monday.
Ebojele said further details on the speaker’s would be communicated in due course.
“Edo Assembly Speaker Rt Hon Chief Blessing Agbebaku Resigns. Details Later,” she wrote.
Yekini Idaiyi, member representing Akoko Edo II Constituency, has reportedly been sworn in as new Speaker of the House.
