The governments of Lagos, Osun, Ogun and Oyo States have odeclared today, Wednesday, a work-free day for public servants in honour of Isese Day.
Thefrontrank reports that Isese is an annual celebration of Yoruba culture, religion and traditions.
In Ogun State, the government via a statement by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the Governor, announced the holiday as part of efforts to recognize the significance of Yoruba traditions in shaping the state’s identity.
Governor Dapo Abiodun emphasized that the celebration would strengthens community bonds and encourages broader societal appreciation of cultural values.
Similarly, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State approved the holiday to allow traditional worshippers and the general public to fully engage in the festivities that promote and preserve indigenous heritage.
In Osun State, a statement by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Abdul Rasheed Aderibigbe, conveyed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s warm wishes to traditional worshippers.
While announcing the holiday, Governor Adeleke expressed hope for a joyful and meaningful Isese Festival celebration.
Oyo State declared a work-free day in a circular issued by Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, Secretary to the State Government.
Governor Seyi Makinde endorsed the observance to honour the traditional religious practices of the Yoruba people.
