The newly appointed National Vice Chairman, South-West of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Diran Iyantan, has extended warm greetings to party leaders, stakeholders, members and supporters across the six states of the South-West, assuring them of his commitment to purposeful, inclusive and result-oriented leadership in the zone.
Iyantan, whose appointment has been ratified by the leadership of the APC, has formally assumed his responsibilities as the South-West representative on the party’s National Working Committee.
He succeeds Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke, who resigned the position after securing the APC ticket to contest the Ondo South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.
Iyantan, in his message marking his assumption of office and Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, congratulated the leaders and governors of the South-West for their contributions to the development of the region and acknowledged the role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in setting out an economic reform agenda which the President says has now entered a new phase focused on prosperity.
He particularly welcomed the central message of President Tinubu’s October 1 Independence Day address, titled “From Reforms to Prosperity,” in which the President declared: “Now, our purpose is simple: shared and widespread prosperity.”
According to him, the President’s declaration that “The emergency treatment is over. The foundation has been repaired” represents an important statement of the administration’s current economic direction, particularly its stated emphasis on productive employment, industrial growth, agriculture, infrastructure, enterprise and reducing the cost of living.
He said the South-West, as an important component of Nigeria’s political, economic and social development, has a responsibility to remain engaged in the national conversation and contribute constructively to the implementation of policies capable of expanding opportunities for citizens.
Iyantan also welcomed the President’s emphasis on production and job creation, particularly his statement that the government is placing “jobs, enterprise, and industrial growth at the heart” of its policies. He noted that these areas are particularly significant to the South-West because of the region’s large population, commercial activity, entrepreneurial base, agricultural potential and industrial capacity.
The APC National Vice Chairman, South-West, therefore called on party members across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States to strengthen unity, discipline, communication and cooperation within the party.
He assured APC members that his leadership would work with the zonal and state leadership structures, elected representatives, stakeholders and grassroots members to strengthen internal organisation and deepen engagement across the region.
“My assumption of this responsibility is a commitment to serve the South-West and strengthen the bonds that hold our party together. I will work with our leaders and members across the six states to promote consultation, cooperation, reconciliation and effective party organisation,” Iyantan stated.
He congratulated the APC governors and other elected leaders in the South-West, while urging all stakeholders to continue to place the broader interests of the party and the region above individual differences.
On the 2027 general elections, Iyantan said the South-West APC would continue its preparations in accordance with the party’s constitution, electoral timetable and decisions of its appropriate organs.
He described the forthcoming elections as an important test of the party’s organisational capacity and called on party structures across the region to remain focused, united and adequately prepared for the electoral season.
He further assured APC members that his leadership would provide purposeful coordination and engagement as the party moved into the next phase of its political activities.
Iyantan also extended his Independence Day greetings to Nigerians, particularly APC members throughout the South-West, and called for continued commitment to democratic values, national unity, economic development and peaceful political engagement.
He said President Tinubu’s Independence Day message that “The age of reform has done its work. Now begins the age of prosperity” provides the context for the next phase of the administration’s economic programme, while stressing that the real measure of progress would ultimately be how economic improvements translate into better opportunities and living conditions for Nigerians.
The APC National Vice Chairman expressed confidence that with greater cooperation among party leaders and members, the South-West APC can build a stronger, more cohesive and better-organised political structure capable of effectively participating in the 2027 electoral process.
He concluded by wishing the people of the South-West and all Nigerians a happy 66th Independence Anniversary, assuring them that the APC South-West leadership would remain committed to constructive engagement, unity and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
