The 20 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted on the Owerri-Onitsha road in Imo State have been released.
They are currently receiving medical attention at the Department of State Services (DSS) Hospital in Owerri.
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu is presently at the DSS facility in Owerri addressing the victims.
Nafiu is in company of the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Director DSS and Brigade Commander 34 artillery Imo State.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja confirmed the release of the abducted corps members.
The traditional ruler spoke through his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko.
Oloko noted that the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzozinma called the traditional ruler and told him about the release.
Oloko said, ‘the prospective members of NYSC who were abducted have been released.
“The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma confirmed this in a telephone conversation with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty,Oba Rashidi Ladoja at 5.00pm today, Wednesday.
“It is true,” he said.
Thefrontrank reports that the victims were abducted in the early hours of Thursday.
They left Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday and were heading to NYSC camp in Bende in Abia State when they were adducted.
