The Federal Government has announced plans to sell petrol at discounted prices at NNPC filling stations across the country for the next 30 days.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday.
Oyedele said the discount would prioritise public transport operators as part of measures to reduce the impact of fuel costs on Nigerians.
“There’ll be a discount on NNPC petrol for the next 30 days, with priority for public transporters,” he said.
The minister also announced that the Federal Government would adopt a “negotiated landing cost” for petrol, which would be reviewed monthly.
The measures are expected to provide temporary relief to motorists and public transport operators while the government reviews the cost of imported petrol.
