Kano govt hooks up 50 journalists in mass wedding
The Kano State Government has announced plans to allocate 50 slots to journalists and other media workers in the next batch of the state’s mass wedding programme.
The Commander-General of the State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, disclosed this at a news conference in Kano.
According to him, the initiative aim is to extend the programme’s benefit to professional groups, including members of the media.
He highlighted the success of the previous batch of mass weddings where 1,800 marriages were consummated.
The Hisbah boss said the board decided to expand the programme to include interested members of various professional fields such as journalism, law and healthcare.
Daurawa explained that the state’s mass wedding initiative was conceived to promote moral values in the society and reduce immorality among young men and women.
A collective wedding or mass wedding is a marriage ceremony in which a small or large number of couples are married at the same time.
