
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across various parts of the country on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
According to the daily weather outlook issued on July 9, northern states will experience thunderstorms with light to moderate rain in the morning, particularly in Taraba, Adamawa, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe, and Bauchi.
Other areas are expected to remain sunny with patches of cloud.
By afternoon and evening, thunderstorms accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected to affect Bauchi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe, and Borno.
In the central region, morning thunderstorms with light rain are anticipated in Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Plateau, and Niger. Later in the day, moderate rain is expected in the FCT, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Niger, and Plateau.
Southern states will experience cloudy skies with light rain in the morning in areas such as Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. Moderate rainfall is forecast across most parts of the region in the afternoon and evening.
NiMet advised the public to remain alert to potential flash floods, strong winds, and localized disruptions as a result of the thunderstorms and rainfall.
