Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State is fighting an unending political battle as the cracks on the walls of his political family continue to widen unabated over alleged unfair treatment and poor handling of the just concluded All Progressives Congress(APC) primaries in the state.
Thefrontrank reports that there is also the allegation of “arrogance in governance attitude” by Aiyedatiwa, leading to his “political camp” deplicting daily with many of his associates pulling out and pitching tent with the camp of the Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, popularly known as BTO.
Scores of the governor’s supporters who laboured for his emergency in November 2024, are dumping him in doves alleging poor treatment and been thrown under the bus during the APC primaries.
One of those that switched camp recently is a chieftain of the APC in the state and House of Representatives aspirant for Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency, Jimmy Adekanle, popularly known as JAF.
Adekanle, a known ally of Aiyedatiwa, had openly declared unflinching loyalty and support for Tunji-Ojo, describing him as his “political leader in Ondo State.”
Adekanle, in a post on his Facebook page said: “If we have just two of BTOs in Ondo State, the people will have a sense of belonging.
“Today, I declare publicly that you are my leader. Leadership is not by age but by wisdom and compassion.”
Adekanle’s sudden and public endorsement of Tunji-Ojo is already creating problem within Aiyedatiwa’s camp ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Apart from Adekanle, many prominent members of Aiyedatiwa group who alleged imposition and unfair treatment, have switched to the minister’s camp secretly.
Investigation by Thefrontrank revealed that after the party primaries, most of the Aiyedatiwa’s defeated or sidelined loyalists have adopted “waiting and pretending” acts mainly to get government patronage or state appointments, while secretly pledging their loyalty to BTO camp.
