Ondo govt to fast track recruitment of primary school teachers
Ondo State Government says it will soon begin the recruitment of teachers in the public primary schools to fill critical vacancies before the end of this academic session.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa gave the indications during a courtesy visit by the Board and Management of Ondo State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) on Tuesday in Akure.
The governor who praised the Board’s Chairman, Rt Hon. Victor Olabimtan, for his contributions to the birth of the present administration, enjoined the Board to continue to do its best towards the development of the sector which he described as critical to the overall development of the state.
Aiyedatiwa, who described the untimely death of his immediate boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, as a personal loss due to his immense contributions to his political career, said the vacuum created by his passage would be difficult to fill.
He attributed his meteoric ascendance in politics to the benevolent spirit of the former governor, by making him the first politician of Ilaje extraction to be made deputy governor; the first to be acting governor and the first to be the governor following his passage.
The governor directed the Board to re-present the case of over 200 staff of the board recruited and whose careers were stagnated on GL 7 for years to be reconsidered for mainstreaming into the state civil service.
Earlier, The Chairman of SUBEB, Victor Olabimtan, commiserated with Aiyedatiwa over the death of his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and congratulated him on assumption of office as the Governor of the State.
Olabimtan, while pledging the unalloyed commitments of the management and staff of the board to the success of the present administration which he described as a continuation of Akeredolu’s government.
Olabimtan said all the education secretaries from the eighteen Local Government Area Education Authorities LGEAs were strong supporters of the governor.
According to him, each of the education secretaries is a grassroots politician and their commitments to the present administration especially his ambition to continue as the governor come 2024 remains sacrosanct.
He appealed to the governor to provide vehicles to the board as well as the education secretaries to enable them effectively discharge their supervisory function at the LGEA level.
The high point of the event was the presentation of Corporate Gift to the governor by the chairman.
