Ondo Head of Service, Philip seeks synergy with state Civil Service Commission
The Ondo State Head of Service(HoS), Mr Bayo Philip, has underscored the importance of an effective collaboration between his office and the state Civil Service Commission.
A statement by Sina Adeyeye, Director of Media, office of the HoS, said Philip stressed this position while receiving the chairman, commissioners and management of the commission in his office in Akure on Monday.
The HoS said for the state to achieve its dream of a virile public service, there must be a synergy between the two institutions for proper personnel management.
According to him, part of the areas where the two offices should work together is the area of promotion of officers which he said his officers had commenced the process for the year 2024 exercise and would soon be sent to the commission for prompt attention.
In his words, “I have made commitments that we handshake from time to time and that our relationship would not be defined by conflicts and undue postures.
“For 2024 promotion, the circular is out. We are kick starting it and I know that towards the end of April, we will be remitting recommendations to the commission for prompt attention.
“But with effect from 2025, the process will be started in earnest this year and I will ensure that at the level of Senior Management Committee, SMC at different MDAs, actions are timely concluded,” Philip added.
Speaking, the Chairman of the commission and former Head of Service in the state, Prince Ajose Kudehinbu, said the visit was timely and would address lot of issues affecting the service.
“This visit has become necessary following your plea for understanding and cooperation during your earlier visit to the commission.
“We both hold the belief that regular visits and interaction of this nature will assist in erasing any friction between the commission and your office,” Kudehinbu stated.
The visit also had in attendance Chief Joel Magi, Hon Okeowo Rotimi and Elder Rufus Akinyeke, commissioners of the commission and Sir Segun Odusanya, Permanent Secretary among others top government functionaries.
