The Ondo State Government has called on the management of ministries, departments and agencies(MDAs) to be more accountable in revenue generation in their respective offices.
The state Head of Service(HoS), Chief Segun Odusanya made the call at a joint meeting he held with the State Internal Revenue Services, its consultants and Permanent Secretaries and Accounting Officers of revenue generating MDAs in the state on Tuesday.
A statement issued by Sina Adeyeye, Director Information, Office of the HoS, stated that Odusanya, while lauding the prudent utilisation of the state fund under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, said relevant MDAs should not shy away from any revenue collectables within their jurisdiction and ensure blockage of any leakages.
He assured them of government preparedness to support them with the wherewithal for seamless and effective discharge of their duties.
According to him, the meeting was convened to identify challenges facing accountable revenue generation with a view to providing solutions to them, adding that all collectable revenue must be paid into the appropriate designated accounts so that government would be able to do more for the people and the workforce in particular.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Gbenga Akingbasote and his counterpart in the State Agency for Transport, Mr Tope Lebile advocated for a more robust synergy between the revenue generating MDAs and the State Revenue Service and its consultants to enhance internally generated revenue.
On her part, the state Ministry of Commerce Permanent Secretary, Mrs Toyin Oni stressed the importance of accurate data base of all businesses in the state so that the state would not continue to be short-changed.
