The Police Command in Ekiti State has confirmed the rescue of worshippers abducted during an attack on the Christ Apostolic Church, Eda-Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of the state on April 28, 2026.
The command also confirmed the death of one of the worshippers abducted during an attack.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, said the victims were rescued through sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated efforts involving the Police, military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters and the state government.
Abutu disclosed that the rescued victims had been taken to hospital for medical treatment.
He thanked residents of the state for their continued cooperation, vigilance and timely provision of credible information.
According to Abutu, efforts were being intensified to apprehend those responsible for the abduction, while reassuring residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He charged members of the public to be vigilant and continue supporting the police and other security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
