The Palace of the Owa of Igbajo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Ademola Makinde, Onigemo I, and the Owa-in-Council have described the re-election of Gov. Ademola Adeleke as a deserved honour for the development of Osun.
Oba Makinde, in a congratulatory statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Adebayo Adeyemi, on Tuesday in Osogbo, said the governor’s electoral victory reflected the wishes of the people.
The traditional ruler prayed for divine wisdom, strength and guidance for Adeleke as he continues to steer the affairs of the state in his second term.
“May your administration bring greater peace, development, prosperity and good governance to every community in Osun, with special blessings to Igbajo and Boluwaduro Local Government Area,” he said.
Oba Makinde, however, called on the sons and daughters of Osun to support every genuine effort aimed at moving the state forward and place their collective interest above all other considerations.
The traditional ruler also urged party faithful and supporters to embrace peace, shun provocation and avoid any conduct capable of degenerating into violence.
“Let winners celebrate with moderation and maturity, while those who lost accept the outcome in the spirit of sportsmanship.
“Election is a contest, but Osun is our common home. Let peace prevail and let unity endure,” he said.
Oba Makinde also called on indigenes and residents of the state to support the governor to enable him deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
