The Ondo State Police Command wishes to dismiss in strong terms the false and misleading rumour currently circulating within Akure metropolis alleging the imposition of a traditional curfew.
The Command states categorically that no such curfew exists and there is no security development warranting panic or apprehension among residents.
Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard the unfounded information, which is clearly aimed at creating fear, confusion and unnecessary tension within the state.
The Command further warns individuals and groups involved in the deliberate spread of misinformation and fake news to desist forthwith, as such acts are capable of undermining public peace and security.
Anyone found spreading false information intended to incite panic or disturb public order will be investigated and made to face the consequences of their actions in accordance with the law.
Residents are encouraged to remain calm, law-abiding and continue with their lawful activities without fear, while relying only on verified and credible sources for information.
The Ondo State Police Command remains committed to maintaining peace, public safety and the protection of lives and property across the state.
