A 40 year old British woman, Claire Chadwick, who relocated to Nigeria to start a new life with her husband, Ibrahim, has died alongside her unborn baby after developing sepsis.
Chadwick, who was 37 weeks pregnant, reportedly developed sepsis and died of septic shock after her baby died in the womb.
She was expecting a baby girl with her husband, Ibrahim, according to Mail Online.
She had relocated from the UK to Nigeria to be with her husband and built a large social media following over the years.
The couple regularly posted videos on TikTok and Instagram about food challenges, their faith and their relationship.
Her family has launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking to raise £10,000 to fly her body about 3,000 miles back to the UK.
“More than anything, we want them both returned so they can be laid to rest with dignity, surrounded by the family who love them,” her sister, Shannon, said.
Shannon described the deceased as “funny” and “fiercely strong-minded,” adding that she is survived by her 19-year-old son in Wales, her husband and other relatives.
“She was a woman who lived her life in her own way and she will leave a lasting impression on everyone who knew her,” Shannon told WalesOnline.
She said the response to the fundraiser had been “overwhelming” and thanked REST, a charity that supports families bereaved by sudden or tragic deaths abroad.
Tributes have also poured in on the GoFundMe page, with many describing Chadwick as kind and caring.
