The Senate on Thursday confirmed Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The confirmation followed Darma’s screening by lawmakers.
Darma was nominated on Wednesday by President Bola Tinubu to join the Federal Executive Council, replacing former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who read the President’s communication during plenary, had earlier referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for consideration, directing the panel to report back promptly.
During the screening, the minister-designate pledged to work closely with the National Assembly to address the country’s huge housing deficit, outlining reforms aimed at improving leadership, expanding access to affordable housing and strengthening institutions in the sector.
Before his nomination, Darma served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.
