Pa Muniru Olayemi, the biological father of the late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, whose real name is Sadiq Olayemi Bayonle, has broken his silence following his son’s sudden death.
Pa Olayemi shared details about Toluwanisings’ life and demanding that he must be buried at his personal house rather than a public cemetery.
The singer’s father revealed that Toluwanisings was born in July 1992, meaning he was 34 years old when he died on October 14, 2026.
According to him, the late singer lost his mother when he was just six months old.
“After her remains were brought back from Kano, her family requested that Toluwanisings be allowed to stay with them to help console them over their loss,” he said.
He disclosed that the late singer was subsequently raised by his maternal family, who were Christians, and grew up practising the Christian faith.
However, his father explained that his elder brother also played a significant role in the singer’s upbringing, providing financial support, paying his school fees and buying him a bicycle, among other things.
After completing his secondary education, Toluwanisings proceeded to Yaba College of Technology in Lagos.
His father, who was based in Kano at the time, said the singer maintained a close relationship with the family.
While living in Lagos, Toluwanisings met the woman who later became his wife.
The two reportedly worshipped in the same church choir before he eventually informed his family of his intention to marry her.
The singer’s father also clarified that he had a legally recognised marriage with Toluwanisings’ mother, although he had fathered a child with another woman before the marriage.
He said he was happy that his son embraced Christianity despite the family having both Christian and Muslim members.
Following the death of Toluwanisings’ mother, his father remarried.
At a later time, the singer asked to be introduced to his younger half-siblings, a request his father granted.
The introduction reportedly marked the beginning of a close relationship between them.
According to his father, Toluwanisings was supportive of both him and his younger half-siblings, particularly in providing financial assistance.
He disclosed that the singer had promised to help establish one of his younger half-siblings just a day before his death.
Describing his late son as caring and generous, the father said Toluwanisings did his best to support his family and remained a blessing to those around him.
On his burial, the bereaved father expressed his desire for his son to be laid to rest in the house he built before his death rather than at another location.
