Women’s 100mH: Tobi Amusan defeats world champion Danielle Williams in a world-leading 12.40s
World Record holder Tobi Amusan defeated reigning world champion Danielle Williams in her home country, clocking a world-leading and the fastest time on Jamaican soil.
Hurdling queen Tobi Amusan is back to winning ways after storming to the fastest time in the world this year for a victorious women’s 100mH success at the Jamaica Athletics Invitational.
The World Record (WR) holder recovered from a poor start, smoothly scaling through the hurdles in a super-fast 12.40s (0.9), thus defeating homegirl and reigning world champion Danielle Williams, who had to settle for second in 12.46s, and USA’s Christina Clemons was third in 12.54s.
Amusan’s blistering mark is the fastest 100mH time on Jamaican soil and is a vital statement after the Suzhou Diamond League disappointment, where she was disqualified for a false start.
