2027: ONDO SOUTH ALLIANCE CONDEMNS TAKURO’S DESPERATE MEETING IN ODIGBO, REJECTS ATTEMPT TO COERCE ONDO SOUTH VOTERS
The attention of the Ondo South Alliance (OSA) has been drawn to a meeting held yesterday in Odigbo Local Government Area, convened by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ondo State, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, where he attempted to coerce, intimidate and blackmail the good people of Odigbo LGA to vote against their conscience in the forthcoming general elections.
We condemn in its entirety this desperate, selfish and anti-democratic move.
It is unfortunate that a Commissioner who represents Odigbo LGA in the State Executive Council, and who till date cannot point to any tangible development he has attracted to Odigbo Local Government, has now suddenly found his voice only to preach political intolerance and threaten our people for exercising their democratic rights.
Information at our disposal confirms that Alhaji Takuro’s recent political desperation is borne out of selfish ambition. He nurses an inordinate ambition to contest for House of Representatives in the next four years, and in pursuit of that self-serving agenda, he does not want any credible, accessible and popular candidate to emerge from Odigbo LGA.
The people of Odigbo LGA and Ondo South at large are wiser. We are tired of voting for individuals who, after getting our mandate, disappear into thin air, only to resurface when another election cycle approaches. Ondo South needs competent, accessible and responsible representation this time.
Our position is clear and unambiguous:
1. On President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: The entire people of Ondo South are 100% for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT 2027). Our support for Mr. President is total and non-negotiable. We shall deliver maximum votes for him.
2. On Other Positions: For Senate and House of Representatives, we shall look beyond party affiliation and vote for credible candidates who have capacity to deliver dividends of democracy. No amount of cheap blackmail, intimidation or unholy directive from any leader will change the resolve of our people.
This is why the ONDO SOUTH RAINBOW COALITION 2027 was formed – a coalition of political interests across APC, PDP and other parties, working in line with the progressive ideology of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself, who has always advocated for a broad coalition of interests and for the people to choose the best candidates.
Mr. President has never compelled Nigerians to vote APC in all positions. His leadership style promotes inclusivity, coalition-building and freedom of choice. The Rainbow Coalition is in tandem with that progressive ideology — vote PBAT 100% for President, and vote credible, tested and trusted candidates like Hon. Matthew Oye Oyerinmade (MATO) and others for other positions, irrespective of party platform.
We therefore call on Alhaji Takuro and his co-travellers to desist from this desperate and divisive politics. The era of coercing voters is gone. The people of Odigbo LGA and Ondo South will take their political destiny into their own hands come January 16, 2027.
We enjoin all our people across Ondo South to remain resolute, ignore any unholy directive, and vote their conscience — PBAT 2027 for President, and credible candidates across other parties for Senate and House of Representatives.
Enough is enough.
