The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) candidate for Ondo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Hon. Matthew Oyerinmade, popularly known as “Mato”, in the party’s supplementary Presidential Campaign Council list.
Thefrontrank reports that Hon. Idowu Mafimisebi, the PDP candidate for Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency was also named in the list.
In the list released at the weekend, the duo were listed as members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
The appointments of Oyerinmade and Mafimisebi stand out because the two politicians are members of the PDP.
President Bola Tinubu had on Wedenesday, October 14, 2026 inaugurated the council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The campaign council is headed by President Tinubu, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, serving as vice-chairmen.
Oyerinmade holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Social Studies from the Ondo State University now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
He equally holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Business Studies and Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.
During his student activism, Oyerinmade served as the Speaker of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the Ondo State University and active leader in the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
He worked with the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Rivers State as a Lands Officer from 1996 to 1998 and Community Liaison Officer from 1998 to 2004, handling crude oil spill assessments, community relations, and remediation monitoring.
Oyerinmade, a consummate politician, is the leading candidate for the Ondo South Senatorial seat in the 2027 election.
