AFCON: Nigeria’s Super Eagles to face Ivory Coast in final

Nigeria will play Ivory Coast in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

The hosts qualified via a narrow 1-0 win over DR Congo in the second semi-final on Wednesday night.

The first half did not produce any goal.

However, Sebastien Haller’s scruffy finish in the second half send the Elephants through to face the Super Eagles for the trophy.

Nigeria advance to the final via penalties, to see off South Africa in their semi-final clash earlier in the game.

The match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes and Stanley Nwabali produced two saves during the shoot-out to send the three-time African champions through.

Sunday’s final is a repeat of a Group A fixture in the competition, which Nigeria won 1-0, thanks to William Troost-Ekong’s penalty.
