The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified seven House of Representatives aspirants allegedly adopted as “consensus” by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State ahead of the party primaries.
APC released the list of the disqualified aspirants in a statement signed on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
The the statement titled “Screened and Disqualified House of Representatives Aspirants” read: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby releases the list of House of Representatives aspirants who participated in the screening exercise but were not cleared to participate in the House of Representatives Primary Election.
“The screening exercise was conducted by the Party’s Screening Committees in line with established procedures and guidelines.”
Thefrontrank reports that seven aspirants from Ondo State were listed as “Not Cleared” by the party’s national screening committee.
Those affected are Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye of the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency; Olusegun Victor Ategbole and Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo for Akoko South-East/South-West Federal Constituency; Rt. Hon. Arowole Ayodeji Samuel for Owo/Ose; as well as Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, Oseni Oyeniyi and Olaleye John Adedipe for Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency.
Ondo State recorded the highest number of disqualified aspirants on the list released by the party, ahead of other states.
The the exclusion of the aspirants from the race is already generating anxiety in the state, mostly among Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s loyalists.
Competent sources told Thefrontrank that the affected aspirants are weighing the option seeking redress.
