Some aspirants backed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State have reportedly dragged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to court to challenge the outcomes of the party’s National Assembly primaries.
The aspirants are challenging the APC National Working Committee (NWC) over the results of the primaries and the list of candidates submitted by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
Reliable party sources disclosed that the aspirants decided to seek judicial redress after expressing dissatisfaction with the outcome of the primaries.
The party sources said that the governor allegedly directed the affected aspirants to seek judicial redress after they lost the party’s tickets.
The aggrieved aspirants have reportedly engaged the services of a Senior Advocate Nigeria, SAN, to challenge the outcome of the election.
The party had submitted to INEC a revised list of candidates, replacing most of the aspirants.
Some leaders of the party in the state have expressed reservations about the development, noting that the national leadership of the party was keenly monitoring the matter.
