Enhanced human resource management key to development – Ondo HoS
The Ondo State Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip, has stressed the importance of enhancing the human resource management to the growth of any organization.
Philip made the position known on Tuesday while playing host to the Ondo State Branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, CIPM, in his office in Akure, the state capital.
According to a statement by Sina Adeyeye, Director Media, office of HoS, part of the moves of the state government to achieve an effective public service was the training and retraining of its officers across all cadres in the service.
The HoS reiterated the continued resolve of government to support members of all professional bodies through human capital development, adding that government would continue to partner relevant stakeholders like the CIPM to realize the set goals.
In his words, “the need for a professional body like this can only be understated.
“Going ahead, we will need you because we have a shared value which is all about looking for a way to professionalize the human resource input into the running of our public service and by extension, into the running of governance.
“Let the system benefit from your value. The system had been supportive to your organisation and we will continue to give necessary support.
“We will ensure we keep training officers but we will also appeal that when you go for these trainings, we want to also see what you are able to add to the system.”
He charged members of the institute to ensure that they bring their experiences and acquired knowledge to bear in their service to the state as he would always call upon them to resolve issues in the public service as the needs arise.
Earlier in his address, the CIPM state Chairman, Ayodeji Ageh, said the visit was to congratulate the Head of Service on his recent appointment and to show their readiness to collaborate with his office on ways to enhance effectiveness of the state public service.
He emphasised that the mission of the CIPM is to promote excellence in human management through value creation, optimization of human potential, standardization and regulation of human resource management.
“As a professional institute, we recognise the crucial role that effective leadership plays in the advancement of our collective goals.
“We therefore humbly seek your support and partnership in fostering collaboration between the state government and our institute to contribute positively to the development of the public service of Ondo State,” he said.
