Ondo 2024: Artisans group gets N200m soft loan after endorsing Aiyedatiwa
Artisan groups in Ondo State, under the umbrella of the Ondo State United Artisans Group, on Tuesday declared support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the governorship election in the state.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the artisans announced their support for the Governor during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Governor’s Office in Akure.
The President of the Ondo State United Artisans Group, Engr. Daisi Komolafe, announced the group’s endorsement of Aiyedatiwa at the meeting.
Responding to his endorsement by artisans group, Aiyedatiwa announced the provision of over N200 million soft loans for the artisans, traders and small scale businesses.
The Governor also announced the immediate appointment of Komolafe as his Senior Special Assistant on Artisans Matters, “citing his exemplary leadership within the artisan community and his dedication to their welfare.”
Aiyedatiwa thanked the artisans for the support and promised to foster inclusive governance in the state.
Earlier, Komolafe had praised the governor’s transformative agenda and expressed the artisans’ collective satisfaction with his administration and support for his election.
He said: “The governor did not coerce us to attend today’s gathering, we came willingly on our own accord.
“Some of our members couldn’t join us due to ongoing observance of the Muslim fast and other personal challenges.
“Artisans constitute a significant portion of the electorate in Ondo State, comprising 64% of voters and we unequivocally pledge our support to you. We believe in your vision, and we are eager to work alongside you.”
He noted that the artisans deserved better treatment from government and expressed optimism that the state government would make life more meaningful for them.
