The Federal Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a 23-year-old Nigerian medical graduate, Miss Nnani Adaobi Marian, who died from injuries sustained during a Russian aerial attack in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the government said it received with “profound sadness” the news of the death of the graduate of Kharkiv National Medical University.
“On behalf of the Federal Government, it extended condolences to her family and pointed out that the Ministry is in contact with Nigerian Missions in Ukraine and Germany to verify details and provide consular assistance,” the statement said.
The statement renewed federal government’s call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict while reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to the protection and welfare of its citizens abroad.
The Nigerian Government further emphasized that it will continue to monitor developments closely while providing all necessary support through its diplomatic missions.
