Gov’ship election: We’ll take back Ondo State, LP boasts
The Chairman of Labour Party Governorship Primary in Ondo State, Mr Olusola Ayodele has announced the resolve of the Party to take back the State in the November 16 governorship election.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party Obiora Ifo on Friday, indicated that the party has set all motions on the ground to clinch victory.
Ifo explained that the Olusola Ayodele committee was charged with the responsibility of mobilizing a high-powered National Campaign team for the Party to reenact the LP leadership in Ondo state, and is ready to give back the state back to the Labour Party.
“To lead the Ondo National campaign committee is Mr Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, and Mr. Alex Oti, Governor of Abia State.
“They are to be supported by all LP Senators, Reps Members, State Lawmakers, and other key leaders of the Party in the country with formidable solidarity from key members of the Obedient Movement in the diaspora,” he said.
Clarifying the rumour about the possibility of the party conducting a substitution primary for the Governorship candidacy of the party, Ifo said that such would only happen, if the current governorship candidate of the party decides to withdraw from the race within the substitution window created by INEC and if the National Working Committee(NWC) of the Party also finds governorship aspirants who have the required competence and capacity as a possible replacement to fly the governorship ticket of a mega party like the Labour Party.
Meanwhile the party also has informed that some aggrieved frontline governorship aspirants, especially from the APC and PDP are already discussing the possibility of crossing to the Labour Party and has been informed that only the National Working Committee NWC of the Party can sanction such discussion before the close of the substitution window of INEC.
