Mrs. Mary Oyedokun, the widow of the teacher beheaded by terrorists who recently attacked schools in Oyo State, has appealed to the Federal Government and security agencies to recover her husband’s remains.
Mrs Oyedokun made the plea following the death of her husband, Mr. Michael Oyedokun, a teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele, who was abducted along with other teachers and students during coordinated attacks in Oriire Local Government Area.
The attacks targeted Community High School, L.A. Primary School, Esiele, and Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, with 48 people reportedly kidnapped, including teachers and pupils.
A video showing the gruesome killing of Mr. Oyedokun circulated online, sparking outrage across Nigeria.
In a separate video obtained on Friday, Mrs. Oyedokun, visibly distraught, appealed directly to the Federal Government.
The widow said she wanted her husband to have a proper burial site for her family and future generations to visit.
The grieving widow, speaking in Yoruba language, said: “I am begging the government to please recover the body of my husband. I want him to have a burial site for future reference.”
Her emotional appeal has continued to generate sympathy and anger among Nigerians over worsening insecurity and repeated attacks on schools and rural communities.
Security agencies have continued rescue operations for the remaining abducted victims.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde assured residents that both kinetic and non-kinetic measures are being deployed to secure their release.
