The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has listed Prof. Dayo Faduyile as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ondo South Senatorial District in the June 20 by-election.
Thefrontrank reports that INEC also listed Adeola Akinwunmi of the Allied People’s Movement(APM), Adesanya Olaoluwa of Action People’s Party (APP) and Clement Funso-Nejo of Boot Party (BP) as candidates for the by-election.
Dr Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, made the disclosure during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Okitipupa on Wednesday.
The vacancy followed the resignation of Amb. Jimoh Ibrahim, who is now the Nigeria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations.
Agboke announced that four political parties would take part in the by-election scheduled for June 20.
He named the participating political parties as the All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied People’s Movement (APM), Action People’s Party (APP) and Boot Party (BP).
“It is pertinent to state that only four political parties: All Progressives Congress(APC), Allied People’s Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP) and Boot Party submitted names for their candidates and contesting in the election,” the REC said.
According to him, 673,446 registered voters in the senatorial disgrict will vote during the by-election.
Agboke explained that the election would hold in the 1,354 polling units across the six local government areas that makes up the senatorial district.
He added that 1,359 bi-modal voter accreditation system(BVAS) machines would be deployed for the election with additional of 264 backup BVAS machines as reserve to address any technical contingency.
The REC said that non sensitive materials had been distributed to all local government area offices of the commission in the senatorial district.
Ondo South Senatorial District comprises of Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje, Ese-Odo, Odigbo and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Areas.
