The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) has announced an indefinite ban on signing-out ceremonies and all related celebrations on campus.
Dr Grace Babalola, the university’s registrar, in a circular dated October 30, 2026, said the ban takes immediate effect.
Babalola said the directive was due to the security concerns within the university community.
She stated that the Vice-Chancellor approved the decision on behalf of the Senate as part of measures to protect lives and property in the university.
Babalola said no signing-out party, procession, gathering or any other celebration linked to the completion of academic programmes would be allowed anywhere on campus until further notice.
She directed all students, particularly final-year students, to comply fully.
She also directed deans, heads of departments, heads of units, security personnel and other relevant officials to enforce the ban and report any violations to the appropriate authorities.
Babalola warned that anyone who disregards the directive would face disciplinary action in line with the university’s regulations.
She added that cases involving suspected criminal activities would be referred to relevant law enforcement agencies.
Babalola urged students and other members of the university community to cooperate with the management, stressing the need to maintain a safe, peaceful and orderly academic environment.
