JUST IN: Aiyedatiwa sacks Akeredolu’s commissioners, other appointees

Twenty-nine days after his inauguration, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Wednesday dissolved the State Executive Council.

The sacked commissioners were appointed by the former Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who died on December 27, 2023 in Germany.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the dissolution is “with immediate effect.”

The statement directed all members of the Cabinet to hand over to the permanent secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices immediately.

The statement read: “Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dissolved the State Executive Council, with immediate effect.

“All members of the Cabinet are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.

“Also, all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are relieved of their duties, with immediate effect.

“All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.

“The Governor thanks the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the state.”
