The Police Command in Kogi State has commenced an investigation into a case of culpable homicide following the death of a staff member of Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School, Ugbamaka, in Olamaboro Local Government Area.
The spokesperson for the command, Afusat Salihu, said preliminary investigation revealed that on June 18, 2026, one Abdullahi Ishaka, accompanied by two women, allegedly stormed the school and assaulted Maryam Usman, 30, for disciplining a pupil.
The victim sustained serious injuries during the attack and was initially treated at a hospital in Ugbamaka before being referred to Iko-Ojo Hospital, Okpo, for further medical attention. She later died on June 25, 2026.
“Following the report, police operatives visited the scene and the deceased’s residence, where necessary documentation was carried out.
“Arrangements are ongoing to convey the corpse to General Hospital, Ankpa, for medical examination and autopsy.
“The suspects reportedly fled before the arrival of the police.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend them, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and comprehensive investigation upon their arrest,” she disclosed.
