A fresh crisis has hit the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Osun State following the mass resignation of loyalists of the party’s former national secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, from the party.
Omisore contested for the party’s governorship ticket with Mr Bola Oyebamiji before he was disqualified along with six other aspirants.
Reconciliation efforts seem elusive as the Omisore group remains adamant after it reported that demand for legislative tickets was not endorsed by the party’s leadership.
Over five prominent members of the Omisore group in the APC have resigned from the party within one week without stating the reasons for their resignations.
Those who dumped the party include a former Education Commissioner, Oladoyin Bamisayemi; Commissioner for Political Matters, Taiwo Akeju; Special Adviser on Higher Education, Jamiu Olawumi; and former State Lawmaker, Adeyeye Olajide, among others.
Reacting, APC members have taken to social media to criticize the decision for the party chieftains to dump the political platform a few months before the governorship election.
