The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ondo North Chapter, has officially endorsed and adopted Chief Abdul Tunji Mohammed (ATM) as its consensus candidate for the Ondo North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The historic endorsement was announced after a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held in Ikare Akoko, where branch chairmen, unit heads, and members of the union from across the six local government areas of Ondo North unanimously resolved to throw their weight behind ATM.
Speaking on behalf of the union, the Ondo State NURTW Deputy Chairman Comrade Ademola Ezekiel (Rotary) and Ikare Branch Central Chairman Baba Waso,, described Chief Abdul Tunji Mohammed as “not just an aspirant, but a well-prepared leader with proven capacity.” He noted that ATM’s track record in Banking, Finance, Real Estate, and Infrastructure, alongside his consistent empowerment of transporters, artisans, and youths, made him the natural choice for the Ondo North
“Our members have benefited from ATM’s interventions over the years. He understands our challenges and has always responded without waiting for election season. With him in the Senate, Ondo North will have a strong voice and real representation,” the Chairman stated.
In his response, Chief Abdul Tunji Mohammed represented by Alhaji Fatai Balogun expressed gratitude to the union for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to prioritize road infrastructure, transport safety, welfare of drivers, and policies that will create economic opportunities for the people of Ondo North.
“This adoption is a call to greater service. I do not take it for granted. Our roads must be safer, our parks better organized, and our youths gainfully engaged. Together, we will deliver a Senate representation that works,” ATM said.
The NURTW Ondo North Chapter called on all sons and daughters of the district to rally behind ATM, stressing that his candidacy represents competence, experience, and a genuine commitment to grassroots development.
