Ondo to recruit more primary school teachers

The Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, says his administration will address the shortage of teachers in public primary schools as part of the reforms in the educational sector in the state.

The Governor made the promise while addressing a delegation of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ondo State Wing, during a courtesy visit in Akure

The delegation was led by the Chairman of NUT in the State, who is also the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Victor Amoko.

“I am committed to ensuring that the educational aspirations of our teachers and students are realized.

“We will take decisive steps to address the acute shortage of teachers in our primary schools, ensuring the stability and quality of education,” Governor Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor assured the union of his administration’s commitment to addressing identified challenges in the educational sector.

He also pledged to look into the various issues raised by the teachers, including the reintroduction of running grants to schools, enhancing school infrastructure, appointment of Headmasters General, extension of age and service years for teachers, and provision of instructional materials.

Recognizing the importance of technical education, the Governor reiterated his commitment to revitalise technical training and address related concerns.

Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the leadership of NUT for their partnership and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing education as a catalyst for development in the State.
