The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appointed Dr Lawson Sunday as the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
Thefrontrank reports that the appointment takes effect from April 25, 2026.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Saturday said the appointment follows the retirement of the incumbent Rector, Dr Adegun Simeon Olurunwa, on April 24, 2026.
Lawson, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and BioEnvironmental Engineering Technology of the Polytechnic, holds a Ph.D degree in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering Technology.
He is also a Registered Engineer with over 25 years of experience in the Nigerian polytechnic system.
He has held different administrative positions, including Deputy Rector, Director of Works as well as Head of Department.
He is currently the Deputy Rector of the Polytechnic.
Lawson hails from Ajagba in Irele Local Government area of the State.
