Billboards promoting the re-election campaign of President Bola Tinubu have been destroyed in parts of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The campaign billboards were errected in strategic locations in the state capital by The Positive Crew, a support group within the All Progressives Congress(APC).
The incident has raised concern among the APC supporters in the state.
A member of the support group, Prince Kayode Aliu, described the destruction as a deliberate attempt to undermine the ongoing mobilisation efforts for the President and the party.
“It is unfortunate that billboards and campaign materials bearing the image of our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and APC National Assembly candidates are being vandalised in the state.
“This is the billboard of the positive crew, designed for the candidates of our party tagged; “The renewed agents” before and after it was torn.
“As loyal members of APC and supporters of the Renewed Hope Agenda in Ondo State, we are reporting that the threats and intimidation of support groups will not help our party.
“We call on all stakeholders, especially our leaders in Ondo State, to call their supporters to order. APC is one family. We must not destroy what we are building together.
“We are peaceful, focused.and we are for Tinubu and for APC,” Aliu said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The disquiet within the ruling APC in the state stems from the fallout of the party’s primaries held in May ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Recently, aggreived members staged a protest in Akure, rejecting the party’s revised list of the senatorial and House of Representatives candidates.
Similarly, some aspirants that failed to secure the rulling party’s tickets in the national assembly primaries, have reportedly approached the court to challenge the outcome of the exercise.
