The Police have launched investigation into circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a young woman, Comfort Uwakwe, who has been missing since visiting her boyfriend in the Epe area of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, gave the assurance on Sunday while responding to growing concerns raised by Comfort’s family over the lack of clarity surrounding her whereabouts, three months after she was last seen.
According to the family, Comfort went missing in October after travelling to Epe to visit her boyfriend, identified as Olajide Akeushola.
Her sister, Onyinyechi, said that shortly after arriving at his residence, Comfort contacted a friend, claiming she had been locked inside a room and was distressed.
All attempts to reach her afterwards reportedly failed.
Onyinyechi said the family promptly reported the matter to the police, adding that investigations led to the arrest of the boyfriend, who allegedly admitted to meeting Comfort on the day she disappeared.
Adebisi in a statement shared on her verified X handle on Sunday, said that the Commissioner of Police had instructed the special unit handling the investigation to provide an update.
“It is natural for the family to demand answers in view of the traumatic circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
“The Special Squad assigned to the case is a proactive unit with a strong track record of dismantling criminal networks.
“Significant time and resources have been committed to this investigation,” Adebisi stated.
She emphasised that while progress in such cases may not always be immediately visible, investigative efforts remain ongoing until tangible outcomes are achieved.
