An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court on Friday remanded a former aide to Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, Dayo Ibijowo, and 10 others over alleged plot to disrupt the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary slated for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The remand order was granted by Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun, following an ex-parte application filed by the Ekiti State Police Command.
The police, through ASP Akinwale Oriyomi and the Command’s Legal Officer, Samson Osobu, urged the court to remand the suspects at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre pending the conclusion of investigations into allegations bordering on conspiracy, political violence and attempts to destabilise the APC primary process.
The application was brought pursuant to Sections 264 (1) and (2) of the Ekiti State Administration of Criminal Justice Law and Order 6 Rule 4 of the ACJL Rules 2020.
The suspects were earlier paraded at the Ekiti State Police Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
Police authorities alleged that the suspects confessed during interrogation to being sponsored by a serving member of the House of Representatives to disrupt the primary.
The command, however, stated that investigations into the allegation against the lawmaker were still ongoing.
After reviewing Form K and affidavits attached to the application, Chief Magistrate Adeosun granted the police request and ordered the remand of the defendants for 30 days to enable the police conclude investigations.
The matter was subsequently adjourned till June 16, 2026, for further hearing.
