How driver crushes teacher to death in Osun

A teacher, simply identified as Okunola, was crushed to death by a driver in Odeomu, Osun State.

After the accident, which occurred on Tuesday, the driver of the car reportedly fled the scene as angry residents burnt down his car.

Kehinde Adeleke, spokesperson for the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, confirmed the incident on Wednesday.

Narrating the incident, Adeleke said that Okunola while trying to board a motorcycle, a car suddenly ran into the market where he went to buy some items and hit him, leading to his death on the spot.

He explained that the incident led to violent reactions from the residents.

“The said car was coming from Ibadan to Osogbo when the driver lost control due to a mechanical fault. The victim was a teacher in a school in Obada Area, Odeomu.

“The victim bought cassava peels at Obada Market and was attempting to board a motorcycle, when the car hit him.

“People in the vicinity set the car ablaze immediately they confirmed the passing away of the victim. The driver of the car escaped from the scene and his whereabouts are unknown,” Adeleke said in a statement.
