Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has emerged as the consensus presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement(APM) for the 2027 election.
The governor received the Certificate of Return and party’s flag on Saturday in Ibadan.
The National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, presented Makinde the certificate and flag at the Presidential primary and unveiling ceremony.
Dantalle said Makinde’s candidacy got the affirmative voice vote due to his pedigree and known track record in Oyo State.
According to him, the event marked the birth of the ‘Reset Nigerian Movement’.
He noted that Makinde’s emergence followed a peaceful APM presidential primary and symbolized a new alliance of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and APM, backed by Nigerians seeking a more inclusive and prosperous nation.
“He’s a seasoned political warrior whose seven years as Governor of Oyo State showed resolve to improve citizens’ lives, framing the candidacy as the start of a journey to Aso Rock.
“His candidacy is a response to national decline. Nigeria’s destiny is at stake and must be reset toward equity, dignity, and prosperity,” Dantalle stated.
