Ondo 2024: APC directs aspirants to submit certificates for vetting

As some of the All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship aspirants in Ondo State enmeshed in alleged certificate forgery, the party has directed all aspirants to submit the certificates they intend to attach to their documents for vetting.

According to a letter by Professor Abdulkarim Kana, APC National Legal Adviser, the exercise is slated for next week.

The directive was conveyed to all aspirants in a letter titled: Ondo State Gubernatorial Primaries 2024: Notice of Submission of Credentials/Documents for Vetting to the Legal Department of the All Progressives Congress by all Aspirants“.

The notice stated that the demand for the credentials of all aspirants in line with item 5 of the Amended Schedule of Activities for the Ondo State Gubernatorial Primaries 2024 was under paragraph 12 of the guidelines for the nomination of candidates for the November election in the state.

Aspirants are expected to submit to the Legal Department the Certificates intended for attachment with Nomination Form before the April 4, 2024.

“The Vetting process which entails sighting for physical documents takes place from April 5 to April 10, 2024.

“The directive for early submission of the credentials is to enable the Vetting Committee to adequately conduct due diligence on all submitted documents prior to the date of sighting for a thorough report to the Screening Committee.”

Thefrontrank learnt that the need for the party to undertake preliminary vetting of certificates before submission to INEC, may not unconnected with cases where candidates or their running mates submit fake certificates, which ultimately proved fatal to the party in court.
