Workers extol ex-Ondo Commissioner, Rasak Obe, pray for higher position
Workers in the Ondo State Ministry of Energy on Wednesday extolled the immediate past Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Rasak Obe, and prayed for higher position for him.
This was moment after Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council.
Obe was appointed in November 2021 by the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
The moment the former commissioner was about leaving his office, scores of workers assembled at the entrance extolling his exemplary leadership while heading the ministry.
Led by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Olabode Yusuf, the workers prayed for higher position for the former Commissioner who was in their midst.
“Sir, the reception you have just gotten is an attestation of a very wonderful leadership that you have demonstrated since the creation of the Ministry of Energy.
“As a matter of fact, and I think I’m speaking the minds of everybody, we appreciate you and that we are not really happy to let you go, but I know it is a call to higher service.
“Wherever that you find yourself, we will continue to pray for you and continue to wish you well. And I hope you will not forget the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
“We thank God Almighty on your behalf. We love you and we appreciate you,” the permanent secretary said.
Responding, the former Commissioner thanked the staff for the reception and for appreciating his contributions while in office.
“I’m indeed happy to have this reception. Permanent Secretary, l thank you for the great words used. I thank everyone of you.
“We came in about two years ago to start the Ministry of Energy afresh and so far, so good, God has made the Ministry one of the best in terms of relevance.
“We all built an institution we are optimistic will endure,” Obe said.
A staff who simply identified himself as John, said: “Commissioner Obe is a good leader, whom I prefer working with anytime, any day. He treated us(staff) with respect.”
But in the Ministry of Justice, the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye, was booed out of office by civil servants.
Titiloye, while trying to leave his office, met hundreds of workers who insulted and mocked him over his alleged highhandedness during his stay in office.
He was, however, whisked away by police operatives who were mobilised to the ministry after the tyres of his official car were deflated by the angry workers.
