The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says it has terminated its contract with third-party visa processing partner in the United States.
NIS, however, directed applicants to now submit their paperwork directly to Nigerian diplomatic missions.
Prior to the sudden change, Online Integrated Solutions (OIS Services) managed the collection and processing of Nigerian visa applications across its various centres in the U.S.
NIS in a statement on Thursday by its Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi said that the operator’s services have been discontinued with immediate effect.
The agency did not provide a reason for the abrupt termination.
“Travelers seeking Nigerian visas are now required to submit their applications directly at the embassy of Nigeria in Washington, DC, or at the consulates of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta until further notice,” it said.
NIS assured the public that both the embassy and the consulates have implemented necessary measures to guarantee a smooth transition, promising that the submission, processing and approval of visas will continue without disruption.
It urged applicants to closely monitor the official communication channels of both the NIS and the Nigerian missions in the US for any future updates regarding application guidelines.
